Neil MacCarthy

Neil MacCarthy was born and raised in Toronto. He received his Bachelor of Applied Arts in Radio and Television Broadcasting from Ryerson University. Upon graduation, Neil began work as an on air personality at Toronto radio station, Q107. He also spent a year traveling the world with the international organization, Up With People, visiting 7 countries and staying in more than 100 host families.  

Since 1995, Neil has worked for the Archdiocese of Toronto, in numerous roles: Director of Youth Ministry, Communications Manager for the annual charitable appeal, and, since 2006, as Director of Public Relations & Communications. In his current role, Neil is responsible for directing internal and external communications, public relations, government relations & media relations for the Archdiocese of Toronto. He serves as the lead spokesman for the archdiocese as well as the press secretary to Cardinal Thomas Collins. The Archdiocese of Toronto is Canada’s largest diocese, comprising 1.9 million Catholics and 225 churches. Mass is celebrated in more than 35 languages each week.

O When the Saint Came Marching In

It’s been 15 years this week since a saint came marching on to Canadian soil. On July 23, 2002, then Pope John Paul II arrived in Toronto for World Youth Day celebrations. We pray that many more saints are following in his footsteps, inspiring others through their example and witness.
