Ms. Leah Kostamo

Member, Cabinet of Canadians

Leah Kostamo is Co-founder of A Rocha Canada, a Christian environmental organization with conservation, education and sustainable agriculture projects in BC, Manitoba, and Ontario. In an environmental context often characterized by fear and paralysis, A Rocha is bringing hope through care of both people and places by preserving sensitive habitats and threatened species, growing organic food and feeding people living on low income, inspiring school children and training young people.

Leah and her husband Markku set up A Rocha’s first Environmental Centre in Canada in 2003. She currently serves as A Rocha’s Communications Director and is the author of Planted: a Story of Creation, Calling and Community, which tells the story of A Rocha’s beginnings in Canada.

Leah and her family share life and land with five other families and a myriad of chickens on Kingfisher Farm near Vancouver, BC.
